Markers of Oxidative Stress in Patients with Acne: A Literature Review

چکیده
Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory skin disease of the pilosebaceous unit. Its pathogenesis multifactorial and involves overlap between four main processes: alteration keratinization, increased sebum production, colonization with Cutibacterium acnes, inflammation. The role oxidative stress (OS) has been intensively studied in conditions such as psoriasis, vitiligo, or atopic dermatitis. However, involvement OS acne less known. evidence accumulated over last decade suggests that case patients, there an imbalance oxidants antioxidants. In this review, we analyzed studies evaluated markers patients acne, published ten years, aim providing new insights into acne.

Oxidative Stress in Patients With Acne Vulgaris
Acne vulgaris is one of the common dermatological diseases and its pathogenesis is multifactorial. In this study, we aim to determine the effects of oxidative stress in acne vulgaris. Forty-three consecutive acne patients and 46 controls were enrolled. The parameters of oxidative stress such as catalase (CAT), glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and malondialde...
متن کاملOxidative Stress in Hemodialysis Patients: A Review of the Literature
Hemodialysis (HD) patients are at high risk for all-cause mortality and cardiovascular events. In addition to traditional risk factors, excessive oxidative stress (OS) and chronic inflammation emerge as novel and major contributors to accelerated atherosclerosis and elevated mortality. OS is defined as the imbalance between antioxidant defense mechanisms and oxidant products, the latter overwhe...
متن کاملACNE FULMINANS ASSOCIATED WITH REACTIVE POLYARTHRITIS: REPORT OF A CASE AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE
We describe a 16 year old boy with acne fulminans associated with axial and peripheral polyarthritis. The patient's clinical course and therapy with isotretinoin, prednisolone and oxytetracycline are described. A possible association between the presence of HLA -B 27 antigen and reactive arthritis with acne fulminans in this case is evaluated. A review of the literature is included.
متن کاملOxidative stress markers in patients with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Recent study data support the role of oxidative stress in diverse psychiatric disorders. Oxidative stress results from an oxidant/antioxidant imbalance, an excess of oxidants and/or a depletion of antioxidants. There are numerous studies that indicate that free radicals (FRs) damage neurons, and then play an important role in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia and depression. Active oxygen ca...
